How do I activate a Mint Mobile SIM card and get a new phone number?
Starting up a new phone plan can seem a bit daunting, but don’t sweat. Activating a Mint Mobile plan and getting a new phone number is actually easy as f*! (we said fox). Let’s go through the steps for activating a new SIM card and getting a new phone number. If you are activating by eSIM, please see How to activate a Mint Mobile plan with eSIM.
Activating in the Mint Mobile app
Activating a SIM card in the Mint Mobile app is almost too easy. Just follow these steps to get your plan going right from your phone:
- Download the Mint Mobile app to your phone (make sure you’re connected to Wi-Fi to avoid interruptions)
- Open the app and select “Activate your SIM card.” The app will automatically verify your phone’s compatibility before going to the next step
- Enter the 11-digit ACT code on the back of your SIM card and tap “Continue”
- Choose the option to get a new number with Mint Mobile and we’ll give you a local one based on your ZIP code
- Create a password to finish setting up your account on the Mint Mobile app
- Using the SIM ejector tool, remove the SIM card tray from your phone and insert your newly activated Mint Mobile SIM card
- If you don’t get a signal right away, just restart your phone and you should get connected in no time
You’re not only fully activated but you’re also logged into the Mint Mobile app. Now, you can manage your plan, view your usage, refer friends to Mint and change your auto renew settings from anywhere.
