5G • 4G LTE DATA
Because everyone having to change your contact info is a pain
If it’s unlocked, compatible with our service and makes you happy…we’re good with it
Because it’d be weird if we only had 62 blocks wide coverage
If you use all of your data, no worries, we don’t charge overages or ever cut you off. If you finish all your data for the month, data speeds will slow.
SIM stands for Subscriber Identity Module, and it’s a removable card inside your cell phone that stores data unique to its user. Basically, it tells your wireless provider who you are, and it’s the thing that allows you to connect to their network. Without it, you can’t access your data or make phone calls, you’d just be rolling with WiFi.
Since the SIM card holds your identifying info, you can easily move it from phone to phone to access the same network and the same phone number. But we won’t tell if you still hit people with a, “new phone who dis?”
SIM cards come in three different sizes: Standard (Mini), Micro, Nano. To make life easy, some awesome carriers (ahem, like us) provide a 3-in-1 SIM card, which means we give you a triple cut SIM and you pop out the size that fits your device.
A few notes on sizes:
Standard (Mini) SIMs fit older devices like iPhones up to the 3GS model or Samsung Galaxy S
Micro SIMs fit devices circa 2012-2013 like the iPhone 4s or Samsung Galaxy S5
Nano SIMs fit the new guys like iPhone 5 and above or Samsung Galaxy S6 and above
All of our full plans and Starter Kits feature a 7-Day Money Back Guarantee for all purchases made on mintmobile.com or using the app. You can cancel your service for any reason within 7 days of activation and we will refund you 100% of the purchase price, including any fees and taxes. Shipping is not refunded.
Got an unused SIM card? We’ll honor returns for these within 10 days of purchase. It must be returned in its original unopened packaging and the SIM card must not be activated (condition counts—we aren’t called Mint for nothing).
Yep. All plans include the Mobile Hotspot feature at no extra charge. The data you use just pulls from your monthly 5G • 4G LTE amount. All you need is a hotspot capable phone.
Reminder: Mobile hotspot is limited to 5GB for Unlimited plans.
After you have tried our service and know what data plan is right for you, then you can choose the length of plan depending on how clever you want to get; 3, 6 or 12 months.
Mint Tip: You can lock in our introductory 3-month pricing by renewing for 12 months.
Log into your account at mintmobile.com/login anytime to view our available plans and pricing.
Per month, baby! So stream away—it comes back. For example, if you buy a 12-Month, 15GB Mint plan, you will get 15GB of 5G • 4G LTE data (with unlimited data at lower speeds) each month, for 12 months. Any unused data does not roll over, though. It resets at the end of your data cycle.
Hungry for data? Why wait? You can purchase more data three ways:
Reminder: Data add ons are not available for Unlimited plans.
Right now, only select eligible Apple iPhones and Google Pixel devices can use an eSIM on Mint, and the device must be unlocked.
An eSIM is just a physical SIM that has gone digital. Instead of you physically inserting a SIM into your phone to join the Mint network, you install an eSIM onto your phone/device. It means you don’t have to wait for your SIM to be delivered, you can activate straight after purchase.
If you are new to Mint, and have an unlocked, eligible device you can choose eSIM at time of purchase.
If you are an existing Mint customer, then log into the Mint app, head to Settings > SIM > Replacement SIM. Right now eSIMs are only available on selected iPhone devices (iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, any iPhone 11, any iPhone 12, or the latest iPhone SE) and Google Pixel devices (some Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, and Pixel 5).
You can’t change the duration of your current plan once it has started. You can, however, set up a new duration to automatically renew at the end of your current plan by logging into your account at mintmobile.com/login.
Sure can. Purchase up to 4 plans per order. Each plan requires a new activation. So give it your friends and family – share the best deal of the year
At Mint, we don’t hide our fees in our plans—we break them out so you know exactly what you are paying.
Subtotal: Cost of the plan chosen.
Regulatory Recovery Fee: The Regulatory Recovery Fee is assessed to help recover Mint Mobile’s administrative costs to comply with various federal and state programs. Please refer to our Terms and Conditions for additional details.
Telecom Tax: This includes any federal, state, county, city, or district taxes that are applicable to the retail sale of prepaid wireless communications services in your zip code.
Shipping & Handling: Depends on shipping option chosen at checkout.
NY PSCS: The Public Safety Communications Surcharge is a state-imposed surcharge collected on the retail sale of prepaid wireless communications services in the state of New York.
CA MTS Surcharge: Between 1/1/2016 and 12/31/2018, the Prepaid Mobile Telephony Services (MTS) Surcharge was collected from California-based consumers on the purchase of prepaid wireless service. It included a combination of certain taxes, fees, and other surcharges, as mandated by the state of California. Effective 1/1/2019, it is no longer applicable. Please go to https://www.mintmobile.com/ca-mts/ for more info on the replacement of the Prepaid MTS Surcharge.
Short answer: You choose.
Long answer: All Mint Mobile plans allow you to choose how much 5G • 4G LTE data you need each month—4GB, 10GB, 15GB or Unlimited data. When you hit your data limit, we don’t cut you off, we just slow it down. If you need more data, then you can do a one-time data purchase of either 1GB or 3GB in your account (not available on an Unlimited plan). Or if you find you are hitting the limit each month, simply upgrade your plan to the next data level at any time.
Your Mint service starts from the time that you activate your plan. Mint Mobile SIM cards can be activated up to 45 days after you receive your SIM.
If the phone is still locked, it will not be able to be used on other services. If unlocked, it can be used on any service with compliant hardware (eg. some devices are GSM or CDMA only).
Yes as long as your device is eligible for a Mint eSIM. Currently only iPhone XS, XS Max, XR, any iPhone 11, any iPhone 12, or the latest iPhone SE are eligible, and they must be unlocked.
To get a replacement eSIM, log into the Mint app, head to Settings > SIM > Replacement SIM.
We give you the first eSIM free of charge. If you ever want to switch back to a physical SIM at any time no problem. Just order a Replacement SIM through account management.
Sure you can. You have up to 45 days from your plan purchase date to activate your SIM card. Don’t worry we will let you know before we deactivate it. If you need more time then please call customer support at 800-683-7392 or chat with us at mintmobile.com/chat.
Yep. You can upgrade your 5G • 4G LTE data size mid-cycle by paying the difference between your current plan and the upgraded plan. You are also able to set the change to occur when your current plan ends. You cannot switch down data mid-cycle, though.
True story: the most common fix for issues with data connection, text messages and domestic and international calling is simply turning your phone off and then back on.
You can also try removing and reinserting your Mint Mobile SIM Card. This essentially re-registers your phone in the mobile network. This will help you with problems related to data connection, text messages and domestic and international calling.
If you continue to experience issues, call customer support at 800-683-7392 or chat with us at mintmobile.com/chat.
On iPhones: Your voicemails won’t immediately appear in your Visual Voicemail screen, even if you currently have messages in your inbox. They will appear once you get a new message, so we recommend you leave yourself a voicemail message after updating your Carrier Settings. Tell yourself how stoked you are about your new savings!
On Androids: To access your voicemail, press and hold the number 1 on your phone’s keypad, or dial 805-637-7456. To reset your voicemail password, type #PWD# on your keypad and hit “Send.” To record a greeting that doesn’t make you want to cringe, you’re on your own. Certain Android users can leverage native visual voicemail on their device.
For non-native-VVM Android devices, we recommend you download a third-party app.
If you have any questions our team of customer care humans can help you out.

Unfortunately, Mint Mobile is not capable with wearables like Apple Watches.
It’s pretty easy and we walk you through the steps. Once you purchase your plan and select an ‘eSIM delivery’ then you can choose to either activate your plan right away, or activate later in two easy steps.
1. Activate your plan
On the order confirmation page there will be a large orange button ‘Activate now’. Hit this if you wish to activate your plan immediately after purchase. If you want to wait, no problem. We will send you an email with the same link to activate at your leisure.
2. Install your eSIM
Once your plan is activated, then you will need to install the eSIM onto the eligible device you will be using Mint on. To do this you will scan the QR code that appears on screen after you activate your plan. If you close the screen before scanning, again no problem. We’ll be following up with an email that will contain the QR code.
1. You’ve scanned the QR code and opened the installation process, but the screen is frozen on ‘Cellular Plan’. Close the window on your phone, and rescan the QR Code.
2. If you can’t scan the QR code, check and make sure that you have your QR scanner enabled in your Settings.
If you are on an iPhone, and using iTunes/iCloud to transfer your data from one phone to another, then your current eSIM will also be transfered.
If you are swithching from one iPhone to another, and choosing not to transfer your data over by using the ‘set up as new phone’ option, then you will need a new eSIM. First make sure that your new device will be eligible with a Mint eSIM, and is unlocked. If not, then you will need to switch back to a physical SIM.
When you have your new eligible device follow the below steps:
1. Open the Mint app on your new device
2. Order via the app. Select ‘Change device’
3. Activate and Install
When you switch to a new eSIM you will keep you current plan and number. No change there.
With our Bring Your Own Phone (BYOP) program, you can easily get Mint Mobile service on your current device. Just switch out the SIM card and presto.
Compatible BYOP devices include:
– Most unlocked, GSM-network phones
– Unlocked AT&T, T-Mobile, Cricket Wireless, Simple Mobile, and Straight Talk phones
– Most phones with a SIM card
You may need to hit up your carrier to unlock your phone.
If you’re still not sure if your phone will work with Mint Mobile, visit willmyphonework.net. Once there, enter your phone’s brand and model, U.S. for country and, under “Carrier,” choose our partner company, Ultra Mobile. (This, however, does not guarantee if the device is unlocked or that the phone will work with our service).
The IMEI is the serial number that uniquely identifies your mobile phone. In the event that your phone is lost or stolen, reporting the IMEI will completely block service to the phone. To access your phone’s IMEI for your own personal records, please dial *#06# on your phone’s keypad. The IMEI will be displayed on the screen.
If you’re on a prepaid or pay-as-you-go plan, your phone is probably unlocked; however, if you’re on a two-year contract or something similar, your phone is probably carrier-locked until you finish paying it off.
The most reliable way to determine whether or not your phone is unlocked is by calling your current carrier and asking them to verify your phone’s status. You will most likely need to provide your account password (if applicable) and your phone’s IMEI number. You can find this on most phones by dialing *#06# on your keypad.
Phones need to be unlocked prior to activating your Mint Mobile service.
If your phone is GSM and accepts a SIM card, then your phone is most likely unlocked. If you want to double check, try contacting your current carrier to check if your phone is unlocked.
