There are a few easy ways to check if Mint Mobile is the perfect fit for you…
1. Check the coverage map to verify service in your area. Please be aware that outside factors like terrain, building structures, weather, and other conditions may also interfere with the actual service available.
2. If you are bringing your own phone (BYOP), make sure it is compatible with Mint Mobile.
3. You want to pay for the data you use and save money on your current monthly phone plan.
4. You want customer service there for you when you need it.

Yes, you can bring your current phone number over to Mint Mobile. After you purchase your Mint Mobile plan, you will need to go through the activation process. When you initiate activation, you’ll be given the option to bring your number or get a new one. To transfer your current phone number to Mint, simply select the option ‘Transfer My Number’ and follow the steps to bring your number to Mint while you activate your plan.
ATTN: Do NOT cancel your old service until you transfer your number to Mint Mobile. If you cancel your old service before the transfer is complete, your number will be lost.

You may need to hit up your carrier to unlock your phone.
If you’re on a prepaid or pay-as-you-go plan, your phone is probably unlocked; however, if you’re on a two-year contract or something similar, your phone is probably carrier-locked until you finish paying it off. Use our guide to check if your phone is unlocked.
The most reliable way to determine whether or not your phone is unlocked is by calling your current carrier and asking them to verify your phone’s status. You will most likely need to provide your account password (if applicable) and your phone’s IMEI number. You can find this on most phones by dialing *#06# on your keypad.
Phones need to be unlocked prior to activating your Mint Mobile service.
Mint Family is the easiest way to manage up to five active Mint Mobile lines, all under one account. Mint Families can start at just two lines (because families come in all different sizes) and we don’t require a minimum purchase amount like those other guys.
