eSIM-compatible phones have a SIM directly embedded into the device, which means you can activate your plan within a matter of minutes after purchase.

After you have tried our service and know what data plan is right for you, then you can choose the length of plan depending on how clever you want to get; 3, 6 or 12 months.

Short answer: You choose. Long answer: All Mint Mobile plans allow you to choose how much 5G • 4G LTE data you need each month—4GB, 10GB, 15GB or Unlimited data. When you hit your data limit, we don’t cut you off, we just slow it down. If you need more data, then you can do a one-time data purchase in your account. Or if you find you are hitting the limit each month, simply upgrade your plan to the next data level at any time.
Your Mint service starts from the time that you activate your plan. Mint Mobile SIM cards can be activated up to 45 days after you receive your SIM.
If the phone is still locked, it will not be able to be used on other services. If unlocked, it can be used on any service with compliant hardware (eg. some devices are GSM or CDMA only).

You can check your monthly data usage at any time in the app or at mintmobile.com
If you are using less data each month than is included in your plan, then you can downgrade your data at the end of your current plan.
If you find yourself maxing out each month, or adding additional data, then you can upgrade to the next data plan at any time. You just pay the difference.
