You can check your phones eSIM compatibility on http://mintmobile.com/esim. Please note the device must be unlocked.

An eSIM is just a physical SIM that has gone digital. Instead of physically inserting a SIM into your phone to join the Mint network, you install an eSIM onto your phone. This means you don’t have to wait for your SIM to be delivered; you can activate straight after purchase. If you’re new to Mint, and have an unlocked, eligible phone you can choose eSIM at time of purchase.

You sure can. Just make sure you have the most recent version of the Mint Mobile app.

1. Login to the Mint Mobile app.

2. Tap on Account and select Order Replacement SIM. You’ll be asked to provide a form of payment for your replacement SIM, but you won’t be charged anything at completion. Currently we give two free eSIM replacements every 12 months.

3. Select Get an eSIM as your option (please note this option will only be visible on an eligible phone).

4. Select This is My New Device, and make sure you’re using the phone that you want to install eSIM on.

5. Tap Checkout. Once it’s processed, you’ll be prompted to install your eSIM. After completing the installation steps, you’ll have successfully switched from a physical SIM to eSIM.

If you’re activating your eSIM through the Mint app, it will walk you through the installation. If you’re activating through the web, it’s pretty easy, and we walk you through the steps. Once you purchase your plan and select an ‘eSIM delivery’ then you can choose to either activate your plan right away, or activate later in two easy steps…

  1. Activate your plan– On the order confirmation page there will be a large orange button which says ‘Activate now’. Hit this if you wish to activate your plan immediately after purchase. If you want to wait, no problem. We will email you with the same link to activate at your leisure.
  2. Install your eSIM– Once your plan is activated, then you will need to install the eSIM onto the eligible phone you will be using Mint on. To do this, you will scan the QR code that appears on screen after you activate your plan. If you close the screen before scanning, again no problem. We’ll be following up with an email that will contain the QR code.

1. If you’ve scanned the QR code, but the screen is frozen on ‘Cellular Plan’, close the window on your phone, and rescan the QR Code.

2. If you’re using an Apple phone, scan the code with your camera. If you’re using an Android phone, you must navigate to your settings to scan a QR code.

You will need a new eSIM. First, make sure that your new device will be eligible with a Mint eSIM, and is unlocked. If not, then you will need to switch back to a physical SIM.

When you have your new eligible device follow the below steps:

  1. Install the Mint Mobile app on your new iPhone and log in to your account
  2. Click the “Change Device” option in the Account menu
    • If your Mint Mobile account is already using eSIM on your previous device, simply select the “Get an eSIM” option to move your account to a new eSIM on your new device
    • If your Mint Mobile account is currently using a Physical SIM, you have the option of following the instructions on the screen to transfer your physical SIM to the new device, or you can switch to eSIM. To switch to eSIM, look to the bottom of the screen where it says “Want to switch to an eSIM? Order one here” and tap the link.
  3. Follow the instructions on screen to complete the eSIM installation process.

When you switch to a new eSIM, you will keep you current plan and number. No change there.

iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max are not compatible with physical SIM cards. They use eSIM technology, which means a digital SIM is embedded into the phone. We’ll send you an email with instructions to activate your service a few days after you’ve placed your order.

If your phone is incompatible with eSIM, you can always order a replacement physical SIM in the Mint Mobile app. And if you’re activating your physical SIM, you can call our Care Team at 800-683-7392.

You absolutely can. Whether you currently use a physical SIM or eSIM, just download the Mint Mobile app on your new phone and order a replacement eSIM specifically. iPhone 14 is only compatible with eSIM technology.

Your phone’s lock status is not impacted by the use of an eSIM.

If you delete your eSIM, your cellular plan has not been canceled. Your plan will still be available to use until it expires. If your plan is set to Auto Renewal it will be active until you re-install your eSIM or until you cancel your account.

With an unlocked phone, you can download an eSIM and purchase a full plan all within the Mint Mobile app. Please check your phone compatibility at mintmobile.com/byop to ensure that your phone will work on our network.

Both physical SIM cards and eSIMs securely connect you with your network and give you access to your service so you can use your plan. A physical SIM card is a small chip that is physically inserted into your phone. An eSIM is a digital chip that can be downloaded to your phone. If you have an eSIM-compatible device, this will give you the quickest way to start using your plan. Otherwise, you can purchase a physical SIM kit in one of our retailer partners’ stores.

Dual SIM allows users to use two phone numbers at the same time. For example, you can use one number for business and another number for personal. You can have one number linked to an eSIM and one number linked to a physical SIM. eSIM-only devices, like iPhone 14, 14 Plus, 14 Pro and 14 Pro Max allow for two numbers on the same eSIM.
