What is Number Lock?

Number Lock is a security feature that protects your SIM (physical SIM or eSIM) from unauthorized changes. Your SIM is the chip that connects your phone to the Mint Mobile network, allowing you to make calls, send texts and use mobile data. It stores your account information and your phone number. Enabling Number Lock helps prevent shady characters from hijacking your SIM, your phone number and ultimately your account.

How do I turn Number Lock on and off?

Number Lock can only be toggled on or off in your Mint Mobile account via the app or the website.

Note: Before you enable number lock, please be sure to verify your email address in your Mint account under “My Details” in Mint Account Management online or in the Mint Mobile App. This will ensure you will be able to recover your account should you choose to disable number lock.

Accessing Number Lock in the Mint Mobile app

  1. Open the Mint Mobile app and log in to your account
  2. Select “Account” in the bottom right corner
  3. Scroll down to Security and select Number Lock
  4. Toggle the button to turn Number Lock on or off

Accessing Number Lock in your account online

  1. Log in to my.mintmobile.com
  2. In the sidebar, scroll down to My Account and select My Profile & Security
  3. Scroll down to Number Lock and toggle the button to turn it on or off

Note: Disabling Number Lock will trigger a time-based one-time password (OTP) to your Mint Mobile number or email to make sure it’s actually you. Number Lock can be automatically enabled if we notice any suspicious activity on your account.

With Number Lock enabled, what can’t I do?

When Number Lock is turned on in your account, you won’t be able to activate a new SIM, order a replacement SIM or change phones. You’ll need to disable Number Lock whenever you wish to take any of these actions, but we recommend waiting until just before to do so.
