What is Scam Screener? Ever pick up a call and you’re immediately greeted by a robot voice asking you about your car’s extended warranty? Well, Scam Screener is a brand new scam call protection tool that keeps Mint Mobile customers safe from scammers like that, in addition to screening spoofed calls. How does it work? When you receive a suspected scam call, Scam Screener will allow the call to go through and automatically identify the call by displaying ‘Scam Likely’. Customers will then have the option to answer or decline. You may also see some calls labeled as Telemarketing, Nuisance and other labels so you can choose whether to answer. In addition, Scam Screener can also catch spoofed calls because Mint’s new parent company’s network, the T-Mobile Network, reviews beyond the incoming number and tracks actual call behavior. Spoofed calls are when a caller uses false caller ID information, including a fake phone number, to pretend to be someone else. So see ya, spoofers. How do I turn on or turn off Scam Screener? Scam Screener is automatically included on all subscribers’ plans at no extra cost and can’t be toggled on or off. Will Scam Screener work if I’m using call forwarding? No, Scam Screener doesn’t work if call forwarding is being used. What is Scam Screener Callback Protection? When our network filters detect a potential scam call, we flag it and warn you with an audible message before we connect your outbound call. Mint Mobile’s Scam Screener solution provides real 360-degree protection, keeping customers from putting themselves in harm’s way. This is made possible by our Scam ID technology, which is embedded in our network and is enabled by default for all Mint Mobile customers. No action is required on the part of Mint Mobile customers to enable it, and it’s free. What is Scam Screener Callback Protection message? “The number you are calling is likely a scam. It is recommended you hang up now.” What should I do if I call a phone number I know is not a scam and hear the Callback Protection warning? Outbound call tags are continuously updated to ensure their accuracy. If the caller believes the Scam designation is inaccurate, please contact our Customer Care team at 1-888-777-0446 and let them know. How do I know it will not block me from calling people important to me? Although the Scam Screener Callback Protection feature will give the caller an audible message warning against completing the call, it does not automatically prevent or block the call itself from connecting. If the customer chooses to ignore the warning, it will ring through and connect. How can I ensure my business calls are not blocked from the Scam number security features? The free website https://calltransparency.com/ lets businesses register their business number(s) and name, so their calls to and/or from customers are recognized as legitimate.
