Congrats. The fact that you’re reading this suggests you’ve realized how rude big wireless is and thinking about making the switch to Mint. You’ll probably want to bring your current phone number along too…which is super easy, btw. Here are the 3 basic steps to transferring your number: 

Transfer your number to Mint Mobile in three easy foxing steps

  1. Make sure your phone and number can transfer to the Mint side
  2. Grab details from your current carrier (See our A to Z list of how to transfer your number by carrier)
    1. Log in to your account with your previous carrier, or give them a call.
    2. Locate your account number.
    3. Get your password, pass code, or PIN code number associated with your account.
    4. Make sure you know the billing address including zip code.
  3. Activate on mintmobile.com/activate

Tips for transferring your phone number to Mint Mobile

Don’t worry, it’s much easier to understand than crypto.

  1. Keep your current service’s SIM card in so you won’t miss any calls or texts (even the ones you want to miss on purpose). 
  2. Once we send you confirmation that your transfer is complete, make sure your new Mint Mobile SIM card is in your phone to continue to receive calls and texts to your number. 
  3. Remember: checking eligibility doesn’t affect your current service. You can check as many numbers as you need to without interrupting your service. Heck, check your friends’, too and then refer them to Mint if they’re eligible.

How to transfer your number by carrier (A to Z list)

A

AT&T Wireless

  • Account number
    • Check the upper right-hand corner of your AT&T Wireless bill or invoice. Or, after logging into your AT&T Wireless online account, go to “Profile,” then “Sign-in Info,” then “My linked accounts.”
  • PIN number
    • Online go to your myAT&T profile, choose People & Permissions, select Wireless, scroll to Transfer phone number and select Request a new PIN. Your Number Transfer PIN will display on the screen.
    • Sign into the myAT&T app, go to your profile and select People & Permissions. Scroll to Transfer phone number and select Request a new PIN. Your Number Transfer PIN will display on the screen.
    • Heads up: AT&T employees can’t generate a Number Transfer PIN on your behalf, so please don’t bother trying to get one via their customer service line.

AT&T Prepaid

  • Account number
    • Contact AT&T Prepaid at 800-901-9878 for assistance.
  • PIN number
    • After logging into your AT&T Prepaid account, select “Forget PIN/Password,” and enter your number. Afterwards, select “Request 4-Digit PIN,” then “Send PIN / Password.” On the screen, enter the information you receive from the AT&T Prepaid text and select “Continue” to create a new PIN.

Airvoice Wireless

  • Account number
    • It’s your Airvoice Wireless SIM card number. Or, contact Airvoice Wireless at 888-944-2355.
  • PIN number
    • It’s the last 4 digits of your Airvoice Wireless phone number.

    • It’s the last four of your SSN unless you changed it; if so, call 888-345-5509 for assistance.

CREDO Mobile

  • Account number
    • It’s your CREDO Mobile account number. You can find it by texting “ACCOUNT” to 27336. Or contact CREDO Mobile at 800-411-0848.
  • PIN number

Cricket

  • Account number
    • You can find it in your online Cricket account under “Account Settings.” Or, contact Cricket at 800-274-2538 for assistance.

    • It’s the Authorization ID (“AID”) that you set up with your online Cricket account. (You use it to make changes to your account.)

  • PIN number
    • It’s the same PIN you use when contacting GoSmart Mobile. Set one up by calling 611 from your GoSmart Mobile phone number, then say “No” to “refill,” then select “Manage my account,” then “change my account PIN.”

    • The primary account holder can log into My T-Mobile account on T-mobile.com, click “My account” at the top right of the screen, then click “Profile.” Next, find “Line Settings” in the list of options, double check the number you want to port out is selected at the top then click “Request a transfer PIN” at the bottom.

  • TIPS
    • Each user must request their own transfer PIN within their line settings
    • If transferring over more than 1 phone number, make sure to transfer the non-primary account holder first, in order to prevent being locked out of the account for subsequent transfers. If the primary account holder is transferred out first, then other users on the account have to then make an account with T-Mobile, set up billing, and then request a transfer pin.

T-Mobile Prepaid

  • Account number
