Switch It Up — How To Bring Your Phone Number To Mint

Ready to join the Mint side?

If you have checked out our post, “5 Reasons Why You Should Dump Your Wireless For Mint,” you are on your way. Now all that’s left is transferring your number from your old, tired carrier to your new sparkling fresh Mint Mobile account. Like most things associated with Mint, it’s simple. We don’t want to stress you out, so here are step-by-step instructions on kissing your old carrier goodbye.

Three Easy Foxing Steps:

  1. Make sure your phone can transfer to the Mint side
  2. Grab details from your current carrier
    1. Log in to your account with your previous carrier, or give them a call.
    2. Locate your account number.
    3. Get your password, pass code, or PIN code number associated with your account.
    4. Make sure you know the billing address including zip code.
  3. Activate on mintmobile.com/activate

To make your life even easier (yes, we are cool like that), we’ve compiled a list of the most common mobile carriers and where you can find the info listed in the steps above. Just look for your previous carrier and we’ll walk you through it all. It has never been easier to become part of Team Mint.

How to Transfer Your Number By Carrier

A

AT&T Wireless

  • Account number
    • Check the upper right-hand corner of your AT&T Wireless bill or invoice. Or, after logging into your AT&T Wireless online account, go to “Profile,” then “Sign-in Info,” then “My linked accounts.”
  • PIN number
    • Contact AT&T Wireless at 800-331-0500 for assistance.

AT&T Prepaid

  • Account number
    • Contact AT&T PREPAID at 800-901-9878 for assistance.
  • PIN number
    • After logging into your AT&T PREPAID account, select “Forget PIN/Password,” and enter your number. Afterwards, select “Request 4-Digit PIN,” then “Send PIN / Password.” On the screen, enter the information you receive from the AT&T PREPAID text and select “Continue” to create a new PIN.

Airvoice Wireless

  • Account number
    • It’s your Airvoice Wireless SIM card number. Or, contact Airvoice Wireless at 888-944-2355.
  • PIN number
    • It’s the last 4 digits of your Airvoice Wireless phone number.

Altice Mobile

  • Account number
  • PIN number
    • After logging into your online “My Altice” account, go to “My Account” at the bottom of the screen, then go to the “My Altice” login and locate the pencil icon next to “Access PIN.” Enter your new PIN and save.

*Important: Google Voice numbers are treated like landlines when you port them and take 5-7 days to complete.

GoSmart Mobile

  • Account number
    • It’s your 10-digit GoSmart Mobile phone number. Or contact GoSmart Mobile at 877-582-7788.
  • PIN number
    • It’s the same PIN you use when contacting GoSmart Mobile. Set one up by calling 611 from your GoSmart Mobile phone number, then say “No” to “refill,” then select “Manage my account,” then “change my account PIN.”

Verizon

  • Account number
    • Can be found on your bill or online account by logging in online and going to Account then Account overview. The account number is listed at the top, and it ends in -00001 but should be entered without the dash.
  • PIN number
    • Majority of the time it will be a four digit number, but in some cases it could be 3, or 6 digits. If you don’t know your account PIN, you can reset it on your online Verizon account, or you’ll need to reset it by calling Verizon Customer Support at 1-800-922-0204.

*Important: If you don’t know your pin number, you can reset it by going to vzw.com/PIN and sign in to your My Verizon account. Enter the new account PIN and then re-type the new account PIN in the designated box. Click Submit to confirm. You’ve successfully created your account PIN. You will get a notification that a PIN has been set up.

Verizon Prepaid

  • Account number
    • Alphanumeric usually starts with an A.
  • PIN number
    • Majority of the time it will be the four digit password, but in some cases it could be the 3, or 6 digits that you use to access your account from your phone.

Virgin

  • Account number
    • A nine-digit number. If you don’t know it, you will need to contact Virgin Mobile at 1-888-322-1122.
  • PIN number
    • Usually the account holder’s birthday as the two-digit month, two digit day, and a two-digit year in six-digit format unless you’ve changed it. For example, 011065 would represent January 10, 1965.
