Is Mint Mobile worth it? See what real Mint subscribers are saying By Josh Levesque Originally published January 21, 2025 | Last Updated January 21, 2025 So you’ve reached a tipping point with your current wireless carrier and you’re thinking of switching to Mint Mobile. Ditching the lengthy contracts and unexpected price hikes sounds ideal, but is Mint Mobile worth it? Or is this just a “grass is always (and in this case, literally) greener” scenario? Many current Mint subscribers had the same concerns. Keep reading to find out why they switched and, more importantly, why they stuck around. In this article Is Mint Mobile actually good? It’s a valid question. Premium wireless for $15/month* sounds wild. We can assure you—the awards and rave reviews aren’t part of an elaborate conspiracy intended to gaslight you into thinking we’re better than we really are. But don’t take our clearly biased word for it; see what other Mint subscribers have to say about their experience: Tatiana Garcia (personal finance content creator) “I think I was expecting for it to be like a lower-tier cell service because of the price, but it was operating exactly the same, if not better, than my previous carriers,” Jackie Lane (engineer & software developer) “When I meet someone who’s never heard about Mint Mobile, I try to convince them what a no-brainer of a switch it would be… it kind of seems too good to be true. I’m wondering what the catch is, but it really is that great of a service.” Cam Barrett (human rights advocate) “Once I, first hand, saw how incredible the service was, I made a video just kind of being like ‘I feel so stupid for paying so much money to my previous carrier.’” Michael Goedel (system integration and tech engineer) “My favorite thing about being on Mint is that I pay way less than my friends & family, and I have the same quality of service.” How does Mint Mobile’s pricing work? Here at Mint Mobile, we don’t like monthly bills, so we sell our wireless in bulk. Our new customer offer is three months of service for $15/month ($45 upfront payment). After those first three months, you can continue purchasing your service in 3, 6 or 12-month increments; the more months you buy in advance, the more you save. All plans include unlimited talk & text, all you have to decide on is how much data you need each month. If you end up needing more data down the road, you can switch to a higher plan at any time. If you’re not using all your data, switch to a lower plan when it comes time to renew. It’s also worth noting that our prices have not gone up since we launched in 2016. The different amounts of high-speed data included with each of our plan tiers, however, have gone up three times since then. Just saying. Jackie “I like being able to pay for something that’s a little less expensive. I don’t need to pay a lot more money for something I’m never going to use. I’m on the cheapest of the Mint Mobile plans. I just have 5GB a month, and that’s all that I need.” Tatiana “It’s always going to be the same amount you signed up for, every single month. I love them.” What network does Mint Mobile use? Of course, unlimited talk & text doesn’t mean much if you don’t have reliable coverage. Mint Mobile operates on the T-Mobile network, which is America’s largest 5G network, providing 5G coverage to 98% of Americans and 4G LTE coverage to 99% of Americans.** Richard Thiot (tech entrepreneur) “I sometimes drive for business to different cities, and the coverage is with me all the way. Recently, I just drove Route 66 on my way back home. I had cellular coverage the whole route. It was great.” Jackie “I travel throughout the US to work on various projects as they come up. In all the places that I’ve been to, I’ve had fantastic service. No issues.” Ovid (journalism student) “I like the reliability. I have great coverage wherever I am. When I’m on a subway, and when I’m out and about (in New York City).” So…should I switch to Mint Mobile? Obviously our answer is a resounding yes, but again, we are a tad biased. What works for some may not be the best fit for others. But here are a few more pros our subscribers have mentioned when it comes to their experience with Mint, in case that helps with your decision: Clemente Salgado (teacher) “I was pleasantly surprised that I could switch over so easily. I had a previous experience where it was just going through a lot of hoops, but with Mint Mobile, I just used the app. I didn’t have to contact anybody, and it was done within a couple of minutes.” Blue (stay-at-home parent) “Saving all that extra money is a huge help with groceries and daycare. It’s lifted a lot of weight off my shoulders and has been a huge stress reliever. I’m very happy with it. Michael “I’ve been with Mint for 2 years now and it’s been amazing. The best thing that ever happened to me was Mint.” And if you’re still not convinced… a few more things worth reading We’d like to assume we’ve made a pretty strong case here, but if you want to dig even deeper, explore all of these subscriber testimonials on our “Is Mint Mobile Good?” page.
